Spotlight on IntelliCAD Mobile Platform

IntelliCAD Mobile 1.7

Did you know IntelliCAD has a mobile development platform that includes CAD viewing? Members deploy the technology to view .dwg, .dxf, .dgn, .dwf, .dae, .sat, and various image files on mobile devices. Architecture objects, civil objects, mechanical objects, and underlays can be viewed too.

The IntelliCAD mobile platform is running on thousands of different Microsoft® Windows® desktop, Google Android™, Apple® macOS®, and Apple iOS mobile devices.

The mobile development platform is part of the ITC Mobile Special Interest Group (SIG), which is tailored to member needs for mobile. See more details at https://www.intellicad.org/mobile-platform.

New Movie Available: AEC & IntelliCAD

intellicad aec

Did you know that IntelliCAD has robust AEC functionality? Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) is part of the ITC's BIM Special Interest Group, and there's a new, quick ITC tutorial available about drawing AEC entities in IntelliCAD.

Watch the 3-minute video >>

Members of the BIM Special Interest Group are shipping IntelliCAD with the ability to draw and edit walls, windows, doors, stairs, and other AEC entities, all of which are compatible with ADT objects in other CAD programs. These members also have IntelliCAD functionality to directly import and export both IFC files and Autodesk® Revit® files, and then work with the content of those files. And like all things at the ITC, members not only have these features but also have open access to the source code.

Building with More ODA Technology

IntelliCAD platform

IntelliCAD has always — since its first release twenty years ago  been based on technology that is now governed and advanced by the Open Design Alliance (ODA). In the beginning the focus was on .dwg, but over the years, both technologies have seemed to outgrow their initial aim on replicating the .dwg file format (ODA) and replicating its end-user capabilities (ITC).

This point was not necessarily highlighted in Prague, but the link between ITC and ODA technology was mentioned throughout the conference with the nonchalant transparency that is commonplace among the IntelliCAD community.

  • IntelliCAD — Uses the latest ODA libraries.
  • BIM — Attach Autodesk® Revit® files as underlays, based on the ODA BIM component
  • Mobile — Based on ODA libraries.
  • Walls, windows, doors, slabs — Draw and edit architectural entities (new in IntelliCAD 9), based on the ODA Architecture component.
  • Smart meshes — Draw and edit lightweight 3D meshes (new in IntelliCAD 9), based on the ODA Facet Modeler.
  • Custom objects — Work with custom architecture, civil, and mechanical objects, based on ODA Architecture, Civil, and Mechanical components.

The ITC employs many components of ODA technology (including ODA source code), then customizes that technology according to the needs of their members. And that's exactly what ITC members do: they employ many components of ITC technology (including ITC source code), then customize that technology according to the needs of their end-users. It's a consistent business model from start to finish.
